This site is about emulators for systems that are little known in the English-speaking world, particularly Japanese ones. Its purpose is to assist English speaking users to find and run these emulators, to hopefully interest people in these old computer systems, and to preserve microcomputer history.
I confess to knowing little about some of these systems, but I hope that my explorations into the fascinating world of incomprehensible emulators will yield some knowledge that I can share with the visitor to this site. I apologise for any errors, and ask that you inform me of corrections.

Courtesy of a very kind anonymous donor, the PC-6001 roms have been updated with ones having correct CRCs as far as possible.
I have moved to a new job in a new city so life is still somewhat chaotic. Regular programming will resume as soon as possible ;)

Stephen Edmonds has very kindly given permission to put up some of his superb photos of an IBM PCjx.

I got this most helpful and informative message from Terunaga Matsumoto:
I noticed on your page that you list a problem with WINNLS.DLL and a patch to get programs that use it to run without. There's a simpler route: Otakuworld.com has written a driver for North American and European editions of Windows that replaces the need for both WINNLS.DLL and IMM.DLL, and should be placed in the c:\windows\system directory.
I will be moving to take up a new job in another city in a few weeks time - so updates might become erratic for a while ;)
Lastly for today, I'd like to express a word of thanks to those visitors who have recently been helping by providing pictures, links, files, advice on the BBS, etc. Your assistance is greatly valued - thank you!

The last lot of site graphics I tried were just too big, resulting in painfully slow loading. So here is the Mark IV look, which should load much more quickly.
I am STILL looking for a copy of the PC-8801mkII SR/TR/FR/MR version of Lode Runner - can anyone help? I'd also love to try R-Type for the PC-88 ;) Thanks!

It seems that more and more file hiding utilities are being used these days, so I have made some more notes on getting the goodies out into the open.

As ever, I am in need of help ;) I have two PC-98 archives that I have been struggling with for hours - ys1_98.zip and ys2_98.zip. I just cannot figure out how to get these onto disk images correctly. One includes a utility called DSKRSTR, the other has two self-extracting images. If anyone could put these onto .FDI or .DCP images for me I would really appreciate it. Or give me step-by-step simple instructions. Thanks!
Three "tribute" pages - Lode Runner Tribute 1, Lode Runner Tribute 2, Doraemon Tribute. These are graphics intensive pages of screenshots with some scans of packaging garnered from the net. If anyone has any more pictures/scans, you know who to call ;)
It might not be the greatest MZ700 emulator out there, but it is interesting, so here is a page on running M. Franzen's MZ700 emulator.

I have had to take the PC88 and FM7 goodies down for a bit - problems with our one web host. Hopefully back soon.
Courtesy of James, some good pictures of the Panasonic JR-200U are here. Click on the thumbnails for bigger versions. I see the Speccy-like chiclet keyboard is called a "Sure-Touch Keyboard" - got to give the marketing people something to do, I suppose! Thanks James!
Thanks VERY much for the naming help :) :) To the helpers - if you want anything off the PC88 list just leave a message on the board. Thanks again.

Its amazing how after all these years the Lode Runner bug keeps biting! From the upcoming AJMB pages, some scans of my Commodore 64 Lode Runner instructions. Scheduled programming will return shortly ;)

Like Lode Runner? Run a PC-98 emulator? Feel like some fun? Why not take a look here. ( UPDATE: - links fixed - sorry! )
I have put up some Sharp X1 system demo diskettes here. Yes, I know system demos are not that thrilling - but think of their historical importance ;)
A BIG thank you for the responses to my request for file/game naming - I really appreciate your input and your time.

I see James the Animal Tamer is working on an emulator for the Panasonic JR-200U ( presumably the USA version of the JR-200? ). Anyone got any .cjr files for us?

I have set up a messageboard at here. It would be great if you would post any urls of good sites, and useful information, or even just a "Hello" message. I know most visitors here are from Japan, so please do not worry if your English is not so great ;) I'd really like to hear from any visitors to Incomprehensible Emulation!
One thing I keep forgetting to mention. Falcom have some rather good free desktop accessories and other things for download at this url. There are a screensaver, icons, trial games, and the Sonomanma Print section includes printable postcards, labels, boxes and diskette labels. Nice one!
